Event Hosting

  • The power of poetry, poetic prose and other forms of dramatic reading is dynamic, thought-provoking and energizing! This type of artistic expression helps illuminate important issues and invites listeners to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences as they engage various topics. I will perform at your event a set that will not only immerse listeners in the richness of spoken word, but also encourage their own expression and challenge them to move from words and thought to action and transformation!

Classes, Small Groups & Workshops:

  • A small group context offers the ability to engage people in examining issues more thoroughly, and to aid them in using their critical analytic skills in determining what course of action they wish to take in educational, activist, artistic and self-advancement areas. Let’s communicate to design a session or series of sessions that will empower your group members to learn, share, and manifest their energy for transformation!

  • You need the speaker at your event—whether for keynote address, panel, or other format—that will cause your audience to smile, think critically, and, at the end of it, want to learn more and do more! Let me bring my love of communicating with folk, and my experience in doing so, to your event in order that your goals of moving people to progressive understanding and action can be better achieved.

Analysis was the headliner for the launch night of our Bold Justice conference at St. Peter United. His words inspired change in our hearts and created visions of what “bold justice” should look like in our church and in society. He is an artist living at the intersection of poetic brilliance and homiletical genius. Undoubtedly, he knows how to tug on the heartstrings and give a swift kick in the ass at the same time! Now more than ever, the world needs more artists of his caliber.

  • ’A Couple Thousand Years Later’…is…a collection of pertinent and relevant creative commentary on issues and profound poetic realities whose ripple effects can be traced back the distance of that same time span. A combination of history, heritage and how come, Analysis…asks the questions in his work that help to provide answers in artistic form. Part poet, part preacher’s voice echoing generations. A combination of artistry and scholarship dancing elegantly on the proud shoulders of a couple thousand ancestors. –Slangston Hughes, poet, educator, national slam poetry champion.

This collection of poems, presented both a cappella and with music, contains pieces addressing various human rights topics, as well as love and desire, family and even the humorous. They will not only be enjoyable to listen to but will also challenge you to think of your role in transforming society now and in the years to come!

A Couple Thousand Years Later

  • An insightful collection of poetry that will challenge you to take a real look at the oppression in society and ask yourself, “What will I do about it?”

Bringing into play a background in justice and human rights ministry, education and organizing, as well as an enjoyment of the use of language—written and spoken—to explore crucial ideas, Analysis presents a group of poems that examine painful manifestations racism, economic oppression and imperialism in our society. Illuminating topics ranging from anti-immigrant hate to labor injustice to the police killing of his nephew and more, these poems are crafted in such a way that you can “hear” their power speaking to you as if you were at a spoken word venue, and so you and all you share with can revisit them repeatedly in order to raise your level of critical analysis!

With power and grace, Analysis lays bare the hidden cruelties of American capitalism. He has the mind of a scholar and the heart of a preacher, and he’s not afraid to use them. This slim volume belongs in the collection of everyone wrestling with history and hoping to win. –Irxs Kirsch, radical educator
